Circe Irasema (Mexico City, 1987). Visual artist and teacher. She studied Visual Arts at UNAM and at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda”. Her work orbits around the conflicts of representation in Western painting, in correspondence with the genealogical tensions between the 'non-formal' local knowledge of sentimental education and the paradigms of official art. Irasema's work is developed from series and polyptychs that reverberate on the genre of still life. She has exhibited at Kresge Gallery-Berrie Center, New Jersey (2023); the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico, Mexico City (2023); Museum of Art and History of Guanajuato, León (2022); guadalajara90210, Mexico City (2022); Jumex Museum, Mexico City (2021); CCU Tlatelolco - UNAM, Mexico City (2021); La Tallera, Cuernavaca (2020); ProxyCo, New York (2019); Kasmin Gallery, New York (2018); The Human Resources, Los Angeles (2018); the Machine Room, Mexico City (2017). She was part of the Portfolio Review clinic in 2014 by Jorge Macchi at the MUAC. In 2020-21, she was a commissioned artist for the XIV FEMSA Biennial: Inestimable Azar in Mexico. During 2022 she completed the artistic residency of the AIR-Montreux program in Switzerland with the support of the SRE.
